Housing built
prior to 1978 could have Lead-Based
Paint
BY 1996 FEDERAL LAW
REQUIRES:
LANDLORDS to disclose known
information on lead-based paint hazards before
leases take effect. Leases will include a federal
form about lead-based paint.
SELLERS to disclose known
information on lead-based paint hazards before
selling a house. Sales contracts will include a
federal form about lead-based paint in the
building.. Buyers will have up to 10 days to check
for lead hazards.
RENOVATORS to give consumers
a pamplet produced by the U.S. EPA entitled
"Protect Your Family From Lead in Your
Home".
HOW CAN LEAD GET IN OUR

soil that contains lead.

(especially during renovations that disturb
painted surfaces).
